As part of an initiative to provide practical exposure, the Government Polytechnic Jammu organized a one-day industrial visit for 35 students from various departments of the "BIS Club" to the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) office in Bari Brahmana, Jammu. The visit aimed to familiarize students with material testing processes and the essential role that standardization plays in various products, highlighting BIS contributions.
The students gained insight into the standards applied to ensure quality, safety, and reliability of the products. Prior to the visit, Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal of Government Polytechnic, Jammu, highlighted the significance of industrial visits and the invaluable exposure they provide to students, bridging theoretical learning with practical industry insights. At the BIS office, students were briefed about the material testing processes, along with standards that ensure the quality and safety of products. BIS officials elaborated on the organization standards, certifications, and quality assurance protocols. The presentation shed light on the organizations critical role in promoting consumer awareness and product standardization. The success of this visit was made possible by the contributions of several dedicated individuals, Ms. Tania Sharma (Resource Person, BIS), Mr. Sanjay (DEO, BIS) and Mr. Karan Rana (BIS). Their insights and coordination were instrumental in organizing this exposure visit for the students. The Industrial visit was Supervised and Coordinated by Mr. Yogesh Raina BIS Coordinator GPJ and Mr. Manmohan Singh from the Automobile Engineering Department. The students not only benefited from the technical knowledge shared but also enjoyed the hospitality and refreshments arranged by the BIS team. |
