Government Polytechnic Jammu celebrated World Telecommunication & Information Society Day




Government Polytechnic College Bikram Chowk, Jammu in Collaboration with Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) Jammu Sub-Centre (India), celebrated World Telecommunication & Information Society Day 2024 (WTIS D-24) on 17th of May 2024, by organizing Seminar on the theme "Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development"

Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal Government Polytechnic College. Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion he highlighted the importance of World Telecommunication & Information Society Day. He also emphasized students to connect with IETE for the advancement of the knowledge based on the latest technologies. He also said that Govt. Polytechnic College. Jammu has best innovation, incubation, invention and training center (CIIIT) for the benefit of the students. He also emphasis that students should take the benefit of this skill oriented innovation center.

Maj. Gen. S. K. Sharma (AVSM), IETE in his address welcomed the dignitaries, the participants and students on WTIS D-24. He encourages the students to take away the key points from today’s seminar and be the part of the institution.
Dr. Vijay Sharma Hon Secretary, IETE, JSC read the president’s message received from the IETE HQs New Delhi. Prof. Parveen Lehana Department of Electronics. University of Jammu spoke about the 5G technologies and how it has become like 6thsense. Prof. Pawanesh Abrol Department of CS&IT University of Jammu spoke about the significance of IETE. It has 1.30 lakh members all over the India and abroad. Prof. Rakesh Vaid Department of Electronics University of Jammu spoke about how UPI transactions have changed our nation and how Nano Technologies have changed the scenario of the digital communication in the country. Sh. Joy Ganjoo, Chairman, IETE. JSC delivered his presentation on the theme of the day. He spoke about how India has become digital decider and on track to become digitally sustainable by the year 2030- 40 in order to achieve sustainable development goals set be UN.

Dr. Radhika Khanna Hon Treasure, IETE, present the vote of thanks. The faculty members, research scholars and students along with Ms. Tiny Sawhney from University of Jammu attended the seminar. In proceeding of the programe was conducted by Ar. Manu Rajput Demonstrator, Ms. Urvashi and Ms. Mahima, Arch. Assistantship. The organizing committee for the programne was Sh. Mohd Arshad Rajna Lecturer-I, Sh. Rishab Sharma Lecturer-I, Sh. Sajjad Hussain Demonstartor, Smt. Heena Gupta Demonstartor, Sh. Chamel Singh PEM. Others who were present on the occasion was Er Inderjeet Singh Workshop Superintendent, Smt. Rani Devi HOD Computer, Sh. Raj Shekhar HOD Automobile Engg, Smt. Devika Bhardwaj Lecturer-I Electrical Engg, other faculty members and students of this institution.
