Government Polytechnic Jammu commemorated the birth anniversary of the revered social reformer and architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar today. The institution organized a series of enlightening events, including a spirited debate competition and a solemn lamp lighting and homage ceremony, to honour the life and contributions of this iconic figure. The lighting of the lamp and homage ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the guiding principles of justice, liberty, and fraternity enshrined in the Indian Constitution, whose architect Dr. Ambedkar was. The debate competition, a centerpiece of the celebration at Government Polytechnic Jammu, provided students with a platform to engage in thought-provoking discourse on the topic “Ambedkar Emerged Winner Among all Odds”. Principal Government Polytechnic Jammu Er. Arun Bangotra was the chief Guest on the occasion who paid tribute to the towering intellect and compassionate heart of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, and while addressing the students and staff described Dr. Ambedkar as legendary leader who worked tirelessly against caste based discrimination across the country. He said that best tribute to the great leader would be to imbibe the spirit of oneness which alone can lead the nation towards peace, progress and prosperity and through events like the debate competition and lamp lighting ceremony, we seek to instil in our students the values of empathy, inclusivity, and social responsibility championed by Dr. Ambedkar." Speaking on occasion Dheeraj Kumar Coordinator NSS said Government Polytechnic Jammu remains committed to upholding the ideals of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and nurturing a generation of socially conscious leaders and change-makers. The institution endeavours to harness the power of education to break down barriers, foster dialogue, and build a brighter, more equitable future for all”
The Event was hosted by Sh. Chamel Singh Astt. Coordinator NSS and debate competition was judged by Ms. Sakshi Kapahi and Sh. Gagan Pratap Singh senior faculty members. Miss Karuna student of Civil Engineering branch secure first position, Navdeep Anthal of Mechanical Engineering got second place and Simmi Basson of travel & Tourism was adjudged third in the debate competition. Beside students of different departments other”s who was present on occasion were Sh. Manjeet Singh HOD Electrical Department, Sh Sanjay Koul HOD Computer Science, Sh.
