Government Polytechnic Jammu organized functions at JKSITI, Jinder Melu and NICE institute, R.S Pura. to distribute the certificates and stipend among the successful candidates in Data Entry Operator and Composite Electrician Trades at Extension Centres under ‘Person with Disability’ (PWD) scheme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The certificates and stipend were distributed by Er. Ritu Jamwal Principal/Chief Co-ordinator PWD Scheme in presence of Mr. Amit Kumar Sharma, Project Champion PWD Scheme, Er. Viney Gupta HOD, local trainers and various staff and students of the extension centre.

Speaking on this occasion. Principal/Chief Co-ordinator aware the students about the scheme. The PWD scheme is centrally sponsored scheme under MHRD, Govt. of India providing free vocational skill development training to the persons with disability. Under this scheme the Govt. Polytechnic Jammu is providing six month and three month training to students in various trades along with stipend to support their studies and daily need. This scheme is running at Main centre in the Polytechnic and extension centres located at different far flung areas as per the need. Principal stressed upon the participants to create awareness about the PWD scheme among the society so that the students with disability can take maximum benefit of this scheme and also provide information about different Engineering courses being run at Government Polytechnic Jammu so that physically challenged students can take admission in three years diploma programme in different engineering courses, session of which is going to start from the month of August 2016.
